Son of Isaac Davis of Montville, Waldo county, Me. Emigrated to California via Isthmus of Panama in 1851. Was married January 1, 1858, to Mrs. Jerusha Stevenson, who was a native of New York and daughter of Silas Symons. When first coming to California he mined at Placerville and Grizzly Flat. In 1859 he settled on his present place at El Dorado (Mud Springs) where he has 66 acres of land, well improved and planted on which is about 5,000 fruit trees. Mr. Davis is a warm supporter of the temperance cause, a Protestant in religion, and in politics a Republican.
