Sacramento County Biographies WILLIAM DETERDING Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP Page 247 Post Office, Routier; lives fifteen miles from Sacramento, on the Placerville road, at what is known as the �Fifteen-Mile House;� was born in Germany, in 1818, and lived there until 1846; emigrated to the United States in that year, and was engaged in carriage and wagon-making, in St. Louis,- Missouri, until 1850; he then came to California, and was in the mercantile business, in Placer County, until 1857, when he moved to this county; he owns five hundred and eighteen acres, worth, with improvements, about eighteen thousand dollars. He was married, in 1844, to Miss Wilhelmina Rosenburg, also a native of Germany, and who has borne him four sons and five daughters; three sons are deceased.
