Page 272. lives fifteen miles from Sacramento, and two and a half miles from Elk Grove, his Post Office; was born in Vermont in 1826; moved to Cayuga, New York, in 1827, and lived there until 1849; he started for California in that year, stopping a short time in Illinois, and arriving at Placerville in 1850; subsequently he settled in Yolo County, and was engaged in farming and stock raising until 1867; he then took a trip East, and was gone some months; on his return he resided in Vallejo for about a year; settled on his present home in 1870, where he still continues farming; owns one hundred and sixty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $6000. Mr. Drew has held the offices of School Trustee and Enrolling Officer. He was married in 1854 to Sarah E. Goodrich, a native of New York, who has borne him three children, only one of whom is living---Elmer R., born December, 1865. A view of his place may be seen in this book.
