	lives in Freeport, which is his Post Office, and seven 
miles from Sacramento. He was born in Iowa in 1844, and lived there until 1856; 
in that year he moved with his parents to California, and remained in Sacramento 
until 1859. In 1863 he went to Idaho, and engaged in mining until 1865, when he 
returned to California, and settled in this county, where he has lived ever 
since; he is now engaged in farming and dairying. Mr. Fountain was married in 
1869 to Louisa Hollman, a native of this State, and who has borne him three 
children, one son and two daughters, all of whom are living.
