GARBER, of the firm of Garber & Harrington, contractors, Los Angeles, is a native of Ohio, born October 22, 1854. He attended the common schools and learned the trade of carpenter and joiner in his native State. He went to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1883, remaining there until 1886, at which time he came to California, settled in Los Angeles and engaged in building. He erected the Barker Block and a number of other buildings and private residences. The firm of Garber & Harrington was organized during the present year, 1889. Among other contracts they have the contract for the residences of M. H. Newmark, on Grand avenue, one of the finest in the city; also the residence of Mr. Jacoby, on Hope street.
