	Was born in Maine, February, 1824. He came to California in 1864, 
and to Mendocino county in 1867, and settled on his present place. He was 
married in 1852 to Miss Lierly, of Illinois, who died in 1876. He married again 
in 1878, Mrs. Purfus, a native of Indiana.
