	lives twelve and a half miles from Sacramento and four miles from 
Florin, his Post Office; was born in Indiana in 1842; when quite young he moved 
with his parents to Iowa, and remained there until he was six years of age; in 
1853 they came to California, and settling in El Dorado County they lived there 
two years, when he came to this county, and has lived here ever since. He owns 
three hundred and twenty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $9,000. 
He was married in 1873 to Miss Mary Kent, a native of this State; they have 
three children---two boys and a girl. A view of his place is given in this book.
