He emigrated to New York in that year, and made his home there, but was on the sea until 1863. He then came to California, and settling in this county, engaged in farming. Mr. Halverson was raised on a farm, but really followed a sailor's life until he came to this State. He owns one hundred and fifty-six acres, worth, with improvements, about $7,500.
