Sacramento County Biographies WILLARD HAZEN Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm GEORGIANA TOWNSHIP. Page 263 Post Office, Richland; lives twenty-eight miles from Sacramento; was born in Vermont in 1817; removed to New Hampshire in 1834, and lived there until 1848: he came to California January 1, 1849, and settled in this county in 1856; living on the river, he lost everything by the flood of 1862; his brightest hopes were thus blasted, for he was then planning to marry, having been engaged to his present wife since 1854; in consequence of this misfortune he did not marry until 1870; the fair one who thus waited sixteen long years for the one of her choice was Miss H. M. Eastman, also a native of Vermont. Mr. Hazen owns one hundred and forty acres, worth, with improvements, $20,000. He is now engaged in farming and fruit-raising.
