	lives twenty-two miles from Sacramento and one mile from 
Courtland; owns sixty acres of land partnership property; was born in Ohio in 
1848, and remained there until 1872; he came to California in that year, and 
settled in this county; is now engaged in farming on the Sacramento River, on 
Randall Island. He was married in 1872 to Miss Mary L. Doty, also a native of 
Ohio, and who has borne him two daughters both living. His land and improvements 
are worth about $12,000. Post Office, Courtland.
