Page 273. lives twenty miles from Sacramento and four miles from Elk Grove, his Post Office; was born in Ohio in 1829; moved when quite young with his parents to Indiana, and remained there until he was twenty-one years of age; he then removed to Illinois, and lived there until 1859; in that year he came to California, and settled in Sutter County; he came to this county in 1872; owns five hundred acres of land, about two hundred of which will produce from sixty to one hundred bushels of corn to the acre, and one hundred acres of very good alfalfa land. He has a large oak grove, where camp-meetings are held; is now extensively engaged in farming and stock-raising; his land, with improvements, is worth about $25,000. Mr. Iler was married in 1850 to Miss Rebecca Walker, a native of Kentucky; they have seven children, five boys and two girls.
