	Post Office, Brighton; lives six miles east of Sacramento; was 
born in Pennsylvania in 1840; removed to Ohio in 1854; was in the army during 
the war, as Captain of Co. C, 164th Ohio Volunteers; returned to Ohio at the 
close of the war, and lived there until 1870; he then came to California and 
settled in this county; was in the mercantile business until 1875; since then he 
has been farming; owns one hundred and forty-five acres, worth, with 
improvements, about $17,000. He was married in 1874 to Miss Libbie Bradley, a 
native of Ohio; they have three children, all boys.
