Page 252 Post Office, Sacramento; lives eleven miles from that city; was born in Ireland in 1832. He emigrated to the United States in 1848, and lived in Connecticut until 1856. He came to California in that year, and resided in Sacramento city until 1873, being engaged in blacksmithing and keeping a saloon; he then moved to his ranch, present location; owns two hundred and eleven acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $3,500. He was married in 1859 to Margaret Mooney, also a native of Ireland; they have three children, a son and two daughters.
