Sacramento County Biographies REUBEN KERCHEVAL Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP PAGE 260. lives twenty-three miles from Sacramento and two miles from Courtland; he owns three hundred and thirty-four acres; was born in Ohio in 1820; he removed with his parents in 1830 to Illinois, and lived there until 1850; he came to California in that year and settled on the place where he is now living at the head of Grand Island. He was married in 1857 to Margaret W. Broadie, also a native of Ohio, and by whom he has had six children five sons and one daughter; one son is deceased. Mr. Kercheval represented the county in the Assembly in 1873 and 1874, and again in 1877 and '78. His land and improvements are worth about $30,000. Post Office, Courtland.
