KINGSBURY Transcribed by: Kathy Sedler This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm Kingsbury, Henry K., farmer; Yuba City; was born in Howard county, Missouri, in 1826; was born and raised a slave, about sixty miles from Jefferson city, Missouri; he lived in slavery until the Emancipation Proclamation; during the war he purchased stock for his master, who was furnishing it to the Federal army. He was married in 1864 to Katherine Calaway, who was also raised a slave in Missouri; they have four children - all boys. History of Sutter County, California - Thompson & West, p 118 Marysville Daily Appeal - 23 Apr 1884, p3 - The funeral of the late Henry Kingsbury, of Marysville Township, will take place this morning. The cortege will leave the residence at 10 o'clock, and at 12 will arrive at Mount Olivet Church, where the services will be held. The interment will take place at Yuba City. Marysville Daily Appeal - 24 Apr 1884 - The funeral of the late Henry Kingsbury took place yesterday, from Mount Olivet Church, in this city. The Rev. John M. Johnston officiated at the church, and also at the grave. The pall bearers were: G. Sims, John C. Jenkins, Jerry Moulton, Miles Williams, A. Logan, and Riley Jones. This ancestor of the Marysville Kingsbury's is buried in the Yuba City Cemetery, Sutter County, Lot 23, Block 2.
