Page 263 Lives on Andrus Island, four miles up the river from Isleton, and five miles from Walnut Grove; was born in Maryland in 1829; removed to Missouri in 1838, and lived there until 1852, engaged in farming; he came to California in that year across the Plains, and followed farming; he settled on Andrus Island in 1855; owns two hundred and fifty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $16,000. Mr. Knott has held the offices of Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. He was married in 1859 to Miss J. Craib, a native of Scotland, who has borne him six children, five of whom are living four sons and a daughter. A view of his place is given elsewhere.
