He served in the Merchants' Exchange for three years as an import clerk. He came to Santa Cruz in March, 1887, accepting a position as druggist in the store of J. J. Hugg, now owned by S. A. Palmer. He still retains his situation. Mr. Kratzenstein is a well-known young man in social circles of Santa Cruz, and has assumed a prominent role in a number of amateur theatricals.
