	Lives seventeen miles east of Sacramento, and twelve miles 
from Brighton, his Post Office; was born in Germany in 1846, and lived there 
until 1869; worked at shoemaking from the time he was fourteen years of age 
until he was twenty years old; was corporal in the army for three years; took 
second premium for shooting. He emigrated to the United States and to California 
in 1869, and is now farming; owns two hundred and seventeen acres of land, worth 
with improvements, about $2,500. He was married in 1875 to Katie Bauman, a 
native of Illinois; they have two children living, a son and a daughter.
