	Post Office, Brighton; lives seven miles south-east from 
Sacramento; was born in Kentucky, in 1818, moved to Missouri in 1839, and lived 
there until 1843, engaged in ship-carpentering; in that year he removed to 
Louisiana, and worked at the trade there until 1850; he then came to California, 
and settled in this county; was pilot on the river, four years; since then he 
has been farming; owns one hundred and sixty acres, worth, with improvements, 
about $8,000. He was married, in 1871, to Miss Mary Lockrid, a native of Ohio.
