Was born in Paris, France, July 29, 1834, and came to California in 1852.  
Landing at San Francisco, he went to Tuolumne County, associating himself with 
his father, Hugues Lyons, in general merchandising.  In 1864 he removed to San 
Francisco, selecting the wine trade for his vocation, and is identified as a 
prominent merchant in that city.
