FRANK A. MEYER.
 
        Born in Calaveras County, Cal., Frank A. Meyer first saw the light on 
October 21, 1887, the son of John and Mary (Fisher) Meyer, the former now 
deceased, having been a native of Switzerland, the latter still living, being a 
native of California. John Meyer came out to California in 1856, and having 
settled in Calaveras County he followed mining and agriculture. Twelve children 
were born to this worthy pioneer couple, and ten of this number are now living. 
Frank A. Meyer attended the local schools in Calaveras County, and in time he 
took a normal course in the Western School of Commerce in Stockton. On his 
return to Calaveras County, he taught school for a year and a half; and then he 
took a business course in a Stockton business college; after that he entered the 
employ of the Stockton Savings and Loan Bank as bookkeeper, where he remained 
for four and one-half years. He then entered the Commercial & Savings Bank of 
Stockton as teller, and after a while was made assistant cashier, and finally 
cashier.
        In 1921 he resigned his position in the bank, and on October 5 he was 
appointed secretary of Lodge No. 218 of the Elks, his selection being the 
natural expression of esteem and confidence on the part of a legion of friends. 
He is also a member of Morning Star Lodge, F. & A. M.; Charity Lodge No. 6, I. 
O. O. F.; and the Pohono Tribe of Red Men.
        The marriage of Mr. Meyer united him with Miss Oleta Dennis, a native of 
Calaveras County, and they have one daughter, Jane Alice. Mr. Meyer commands the 
respect of his fellowmen by his sterling worth and is an honored California son.
