Sacramento County Biographies FRED MEYERS Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP PAGE 260. lives twenty-five miles from Sacramento, and four miles from Courtland; he owns seventy-two acres of land; was born in Germany in 1822; and lived there until 1854, engaged in farming; he then emigrated to the United States, and engaged in farming in Ohio until 1866; he came to California in that year, and settled on Grand Island, where he has been farming ever since. He was married in 1859 to Katie Viburg, also a native of Germany, who has borne him three children one son and two daughters; one daughter is deceased. His land and improvements are worth about $6,000; Post Office, Courtland. A view of his place is given on another page.
