            This gentleman was born in Kentucky, in 1848.  He came across the 
plains with his parents when but a year old, and has resided in Colusa County 
ever since.  In 1873 he entered the general merchandise business on his own 
account, at Butte, and has continued in the same occupation ever since.  He is 
also the postmaster and express agent of that place.  Mr. Miller is married, and 
is the father of six children.
