Page 278. saloon-keeper, lives on Freeport road, three miles south of Sacramento, his Post Office; owns ten acres of land; born in Germany in 1832; engaged in cigar manufacturing until 1858; then emigrated to America; settled on Staten Island and followed the cigar business until 1863, when he came to California, and followed his old business in Sacramento until 1875; then moved to his present location, where he is engaged in the saloon business.
