MORRISON Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP Page 249 Post Office, Dark Canyon, Humboldt County; was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, in 1821; removed to Illinois in 1829, and lived there until 1849, engaged in farming; he came to California in that year across the plains and followed mining at Placerville until 1850; he then moved to the Forks of the Cosumnes River, and was engaged in running a saw-mill and farming there until 1859, when he moved to the place he now owns, nine miles from Sacramento, on the Jackson road, and since then he has been farming. Mr. Morrison lives in Humboldt County. He owns eight hundred and five acres, worth, with improvements, about $15,000.
