	Post Office, Sacramento and Florin lives six miles southeast 
of the former; was born in Pennsylvania in 1816; moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 
1836, and lived there until 1840; in that year he moved to South Bend, Indiana, 
and remained there until 1852; he started the wagon works there, now known as 
the Studebaker Works. He came to California and settled in this county in 1852 
on his present location; has been engaged in farming and teaming ever since he 
came to the State; owns one hundred and sixty acres of land. He was married in 
1840 to Miss M. J. Sherman, a native of New York; she died in 1875.
