              Aged forty-eight; born in Ireland, and emigrated to 
United States in 1851, first settling in New York; came via Nicaragua to San 
Francisco in 1855, where he remained until he came to this township in 1858, 
where he has been farming ever since.  He is now on his third farm in that 
township.  He was at first a partner with L. Fallon, then got a farm of his own 
of one hundred and sixty acres, where he lived for fourteen years, till 
December, 1875, then moved to his present farm of one hundred and forty-seven 
and a half acres, where he now resides.  Has five children.
