Page 269 Post Office, Mormon Island; was born in England, in 1813; emigrated to the United States in 1835, and lived a short time in New Jersey; from there he moved to Medford, Massachusetts, and was employed in a ship-yard; came to California in 1851, by way of the Isthmus, and settled in Mormon Island, where he has lived ever since; he sent for his family about a year after his arrival; was engaged in mining about five years; since then has been engaged principally in farming, fruit-raising and stock-raising; owns four hundred and fifty acres of land in the county, and also owns town property. Mr. Nuttall held the office of School Trustee for several years. He was married in 1830 to Elizabeth Nuttall, also a native of England; they have two sons living.
