Lives fourteen miles east of Sacramento, and eight miles from Brighton, his Post Office; was born in Ohio, in 1828, and lived there until 1852, engaged in the manufacture of edge tools; he came to California in that year, by way of the Isthmus; was one hundred and sixty-eight days coming from Panama to San Francisco, and suffered a great deal on account of short rations; he followed mining, in Tuolumne County, until 1853, when he went to Klamath, and mined until 1859; he then returned to Ohio, and remained until 1860, when he drove stock across the plains to this county, and has since been farming and teaming. Mr. Parker has since made two trips to Iowa, in 1872 and 1873. He was married in the last-mentioned year to Miss M. W. Wilcox, a native of that State; they have one child a son.
