Page 263 Was born in Illinois in 1830; remained till 1847. Enlisted and went to the Mexican war; remained in the service eighteen months; returned to Illinois, remained till 1852, engaged in flat-boating; then came to California, across the plains; went to the mines of El Dorado County and remained till 1855, when he came to Sacramento County, and located on Andrus Island, April, 1858. Married Miss Sarah Freman, a native of Missouri, who died in 1864; was married again to Mrs. Annie E. Wells, a native of Missouri. They have six boys and three girls living. Mr. Pool has held the office of First Lieutenant of the Walnut Grove Union Guard, Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, and is now Postmaster at Isleton.
