Santa Cruz County Biographies WARREN R. PORTER Submitted by Kathy Sedler This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm One of the prominent Native Sons and prominent young business men of the southern part of the county is W. R. Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Porter. He was born in Santa Cruz March 30, 1861, and attended the public schools of this county, afterwards attending St. Augustine College at Benicia, where he graduated in 1880. After graduating he was for three years bookkeeper at the bank of Watsonville, and on the 1st of April, 1884, accepted the position of Secretary of the Loma Prieta Lumber Company, in which position he has continued ever since. Mr. Porter is an intelligent and progressive young man. He is a stockholder and one of the directors of the Pajaro Valley Bank, and has other business interests not usually acquired by a man of his age. HISTORY OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.- E. S.
