JOHN D. POWELL, D. D. S.

John D. Powell, D. D. S., who occupied rooms 43-44-46, Academy of Sciences 
building, was born in Healdsburg, Sonoma county, California, in 1862.  He 
received his early education in the public schools of Healdsburg, and later 
attended for three years the Santa Clara College, and for two years the Lytton 
Springs College.  In 1883 he commenced the study of dentistry, under the 
preceptorship of Dr. E. W. Biddle, a dentist of Healdsburg, with whom he 
remained two years.  He then went East and entered the Philadelphia Dental 
College, where he graduated in 1885.  He at once entered into the practice of 
his profession in Philadelphia, where he remained several years.  In 1889 he 
returned to San Francisco, and has since that time been engaged in his 
profession.
