Page 269 Post Office, Mormon Island; was born in Nova Scotia in 1815; removed with his parents to Maine in 1827 and lived there until 1852; he then came to California by way of the Isthmus and commenced mining near Mormon Island; followed mining in this county until 1863, when he moved to Alpine County and remained there about seven years; then, he returned to this county and settled at Mormon Island, his present location, and since when, he has been engaged principally in raising fruit; owns twenty acres of land, worth about $1500. Mr. Robinson has held the office of Road Overseer. He married Augusta D. Townsend, a native of Maine; she died about three and a half years ago.
