OTTO RUF, 
 
Los Angeles, is a native of Germany, and was born March 21, 1851.  He attended 
school and served an apprenticeship, learning his trade there. Upon reaching 
manhood he emigrated to America in 1871, and came to California the same year; 
worked at his trade in San Francisco several years. In 1877 he came to Los 
Angeles and was in the employ of Mr. Heinch, on Main street, for seven years, 
then engaged in business for himself. Being a practical workman in all the 
details of his trade, he has built up a good business and employs six to eight 
hands during the busy season. Mr. Ruf was married April 3, 1884 to Miss Mary 
Zernikow, a native of Germany. They have two children: Carl and Otto.
