Page 257 lives five miles from Galt, his Post Office, and thirty miles from Sacramento; he was born in California in May, 1859. In 1871 removed to Sacramento City and continued at school till 1878. He then went to El Dorado County and engaged in the dairy business for one year. In 1879 he moved to the present home of eleven hundred acres (one half of which Mr. Russell owns), and engaged in the dairy business. The ranch is known as the Garden Valley Dairy Ranch, and is worth about twenty thousand dollars. This property was left Mr. Russell, by his father, who settled on the place in 1850, and whose decease took place in 1861.
