	came to this State from St. Louis, Missouri, in 1852. Shortly after 
his arrival he engaged, for two years, in mining. During the year 1854, he began 
brickmaking and contracting, which he has followed to the present time. Post 
Office, Sacramento City. A view of Mr. Ryan's residence appears in this work.
