Page 257 Post Office, Galt; was born in New Hampshire, in 1830; removed to Massachusetts in 1846, and lived there until 1850, engaged in carpentering; he then moved to New York, and worked at his trade until 1852, when he went to Wisconsin, and continued working at his trade until 1853; he came across the plains to California in that year, and stopped a short time in El Dorado County; in the fall of the same year he came to this county; in 1856, he returned to Wisconsin, and resided there until 1859, when he crossed the plains again, and came to this State; he owns nine hundred and forty acres of land. He was married, in 1856, to Jennie C. Newcomb, a native of New York; they have four children two sons and two daughters.
