Sievers is known in business circles of Oakland as local manager of the John Wieland Brewery of San Francisco. His birth occurred in Chicago, Illinois, on the 16th of March, 1861, his father being Louis Sievers. His mother bore the maiden name of Schaffhausen. He began his education in a German-American school., later attended the public schools and subsequently pursued a two years' course in a business college. He then entered the University of Notre Dame but at the end of a year returned to Chicago and became a partner of his father, who was engaged in the wholesale liquor business, under the firm style of Louis Sievers & Son. In 1890 he severed this connection and went to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he was engaged in the wholesale liquor business on his own account until 1895. In that year he sold out and again returned to his native city, remaining with his father until 1896, when he went to St. Paul, Minnesota, acting as salesman for the Schlitz Brewing Company until 1900. Subsequently he spent three years as manager of the Minneapolis branch and on the expiration of that period removed to San Francisco as assistant manager of the Wunder Brewery. He was afterward employed as traveling salesman by the wholesale liquor firm of Hotaling & Company for six months and at the end of that time came to Oakland, being here engaged in the real-estate business until April 30, 1911. On that date he became local manager for the John Wieland Brewery of San Francisco and has since held that important position, the business here having doubled under his able direction. Mr. Sievers likewise acts as president of the Oakland Beer Bottlers Association and is a member of the Board of Trade. On the 16th of March, 1887, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mr. Sievers was united in marriage to Miss Von Ende, by whom he has a daughter, Agnes, who has decided talent as a vocalist and is studying for grand opera. In his political views he is a progressive republican. He is a strong man of excellent judgment, fair in his views and highly honorable in all his relations with his fellowmen.
