STONE, teacher of music, Los Angeles, is a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania. He early in life developed a taste for music, and after attending the common schools of his town, he entered the State Normal School at Mansfield, Pennsylvania, taking music in addition to the literary course, going from there to the Osceola Music School at Osceola, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. There he pursued his musical studies for a time, after which he was engaged in teaching for several years in his native State and Wisconsin. He subsequently pursued a course of study at the College of Music in Cincinnati. In 1883 Mr. Stone came to California and located in Los Angeles, where he engaged in teaching music, and since then has been actively identified with the musical interests of this city and county. He is one of the original members of the Seventh Regiment Band, and is also a member of the Seventh Regiment Orchestra.
