SWANFELDT, manufacturer of tents, awnings, wagon-covers, flags, etc., Los Angeles, was born in Sweden, August 5, 1847, attended school in his native country, served an apprenticeship as a sail-maker four years in Norway, followed the sea for a time, came to America and settled in Galveston, Texas, where he followed his trade several years. He was in that city for about twenty years, altogether. Mr. Swanfeldt was engaged at sail‑making until 1887, when he came to California and established his business in Los Angeles. By his long, practical experience and close attention to business he has built up a good trade. In 1873 Mr. Swanfeldt married Miss Caroline Anderson, a native of Sweden, and they have five children: Alice, Axeline, Andrew, John and Willie.
