Page 269 Post Office, Folsom; lives eight miles from that town, and twenty-two miles from Sacramento; was born in Prussia, December, 1829; emigrated to the United States in 1854, and came direct to California, by way of the Isthmus; he at once settled in this county, and engaged in mining, which he followed about twenty years, but was at the same time engaged in farming and stock-raising, which now receives all of his attention; his stock business is confined principally to sheep and horses; owns six hundred and forty acres of land, worth about $3,000.
