Post Office, Coleville, Mono County; was born in Wisconsin in 1832, and lived there until 1849; he came to California in that year, and engaged in mining in El Dorado County until 1852; he then came to this county and followed farming until 1861, when he engaged in stock-raising in Solano County until 1863; then he moved to the State of Nevada and resided there until 1868, when he came back to this county and remained here until 1873; in that year he removed to Mono County, where he now resides. Mr. Taylor was married in 1859 to Miss Frances Fletcher, a native of Lockport, New York; she died in March, 1878: he has three children a son and two daughters.
