GEORGE THOM

Merchant, and Postmaster of the town of Newark, Alameda County, is a native of 
New York, and resided in that and the adjoining State of New Jersey until about 
the year 1872, when he came to this State, where he has since resided.  Mr. Thom 
first settled in Sacramento, ad afterwards removed to Oakland, where he resided 
until commencing business in Newark, in 1880.  C. J. Thom, member of the Board 
of Education of Alameda County, is a son of Mr. Thom of Newark.
