Sacramento Valley Biographies FRANCIS X. TREMBLAY M. D. Transcribed by Sally Kaleta, July 2009. This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm The medical profession of Glenn county has no representative who occupies a more prominent position or is more justly entitled to the regard of his fellow townsmen for the work he has accomplished, both as a physician and citizen, than Dr. Francis X. Tremblay. Young in years when he first located in this section he had just completed the work which entitled him to the degree of M. D., and it was in this county, though then known as a part of Colusa, that he began the practice of the profession for which he was so singularly fitted by nature. A close student, and of an energetic and ambitious temperament, the doctor has spared neither time nor effort to attain the high position which he now occupies as an authority on medical subjects among his professional brethren, acquiring a large and lucrative practice in adjoining counties as well as Glenn, his travels taking him many miles from Willows. Born June 12, 1856, in the province of Quebec, Canada, the doctor is the son of John B. Tremblay. He was reared and educated in his native locality, and on attaining years of discretion he decided to take up the study of medicine. He accordingly entered Victoria Medical College of Montreal, Canada, from which institution he was graduated in the class of 1885. Coming direct to California as the best field for the practice of his profession he located in Willows, and has since been identified with this city's interests. Besides carrying on a constantly increasing practice with its demands upon his time and attention he has given much thought and effort toward the development of Willows, in addition to erecting one of the finest residences in Glenn county, built of brick and stone, putting up various other buildings. His home is surrounded by tropical plants, flowers, and fruits, besides which he has set about two and a half acres to choice varieties of fruits, taking great pains to test their growth in this climate and soil, and has also one and a half acres devoted to eucalyptus trees. The marriage of the doctor united him with Emma Willsey, born in Washington D. C., and they are the parents of two children: Theolesca and Xavier, both of whom were born in this city. Fraternally Dr. Tremblay is identified with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Thoroughly identified with city and county interests he is serving as town trustee, and for one term also served as coroner and public administrator.
