Page 275. lives fourteen miles from Sacramento and six and a-half miles from Florin, his Post Office; was born in Ohio in 1811; when eight years of age he removed with his parents to Illinois, and lived there until 1853, engaged in farming; he came to California in that year, across the Plains, and settled in El Dorado County, near Placerville, where he was engaged principally in farming until 1857; he then moved to Sacramento County, and remained here until 1864, when he moved to Idaho, and was farming and stock-raising near Boise City. In the Fall of 1866 he returned to this county, and has resided here ever since; owns one hundred and sixty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $2,500. He was married in 1829 to Miss Eliza McPherson, a native of Virginia, and who has borne him thirteen children, eight of whom are living---six sons and two daughters.
