Ward C. Zeller

        Ward C. Zeller, M. D., a specialist in diseases of the eye, ear, nose 
and throat, of Visalia, California, was born in Darke county, Ohio, March 5, 
1874. In his boyhood he attended the schools of Versailles and Bradford, Ohio, 
and in the state of Kentucky. After graduating from the Christiansburg, Ohio, 
high school, he enrolled as a student in the Ohio Northern University at Ada. 
His preliminary medical studies were pursued under the preceptorship of his 
father, who was a practicing physician, and when twenty-one years of age he 
received the degree of M. D. from the Ohio Medical University at Columbus. His 
first practice was at St. Paris, Champaign county, Ohio, but later he was 
associated with his brother in practice at Union City, Indiana.
        Deciding to become an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, he took a 
postgraduate course in Chicago, after which he was for some time connected with 
some of the leading hospitals of New York city. When the United States entered 
the World war in the spring of 1917 Dr. Zeller entered the United States Medical 
Corps with the rank of first lieutenant and was stationed at Camp Merritt, New 
Jersey. After the war he was in charge of a hospital in Minnesota until late in 
1919, when he came to California. His first act after coming to California was 
to do operative work in the clinic at the University of California at San 
Francisco, and in 1920 he located in Visalia, where he is active in his 
practice.
        On January 30, 1913, Dr. Zeller was married to Miss Edith Overpack, who 
was born in Portland, Indiana, and they have a daughter : Elizabeth B. Mrs. 
Zeller is active in the work of the women's clubs of Visalia and participates in 
many of the local civic affairs. Dr. Zeller is a member of the Tulare County and 
the California State Medical Associations, and a fellow of the American Medical 
Association. While in Ohio he was made a life member of the Greenville Lodge, 
Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He is also a member of the American Legion, 
the Forty and Eight, the Visalia Rotary Club and the Visalia Golf Club.
