Page 294. Proprietor of M Street Meat Market, corner of Eighth and M streets, Sacramento; was born in Carlsruhe, Baden, Germany, in 1831, and came to United States in 1849. Was engaged in butcher business in St. Louis, Missouri, until 1855, in which year he came to California by way of Isthmus, on steamers George Law and Golden Age, arriving in November. Worked for wages at butchering in Sacramento until 1858, and then went to Camptonville, Yuba County, and engaged in the brewery business for a short time. In October of the same year, returned to Sacramento, and started his present business. Mr. Zoller married Josephine Niedacker, a native of Alsace, in March 1858. Born to them five sons, of whom four are living, and five daughters, two of whom are now living. He is owner of the brick building which he occupies for business, and the fine residence adjoining.
