HUNT. Born in Concord, Massachusetts, April 10, 1831, where he resided until he was nineteen years of age, and was educated at Lawrence Academy. August 28, 1850, he sailed from New York for San Francisco via Panama, arriving in this State October 7, 1850. After remaining in San Francisco a short time he then engaged in farming in Santa Clara County for two years. He then again returned to San Francisco and engaged in the dairying business, and remained there until he came to Napa County, which event occurred in October, 1863. He first located in St Helena, and purchased seventy acres of land of Mr. Knapp, and engaged in farming for several years, and then embarked in the lumber trade, and continued in this until 1872. He then sold out, and has since lived on the fruits of a prosperous and well-spent life, owning much valuable property in the town where he resides, and is much respected by the whole community. Mr. Hunt married, March 23, 1871, Mrs. Sophie E. Cutter, a native of Baltimore.
