Son of Joseph and Harriet Taber Lawrence, was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, June 7, 1849. In 1855 he, with his parents, came via Nicaragua, to California, arriving in May of that year. The family resided in San Francisco until September, 1856, when they came to Napa County. George was educated in the public schools and the Napa Collegiate Institute. In 1863 he began an apprenticeship to the printer's business in the Register office at Napa, and remained connected with that paper until 1869. He then began clerking in the drug store of E. N. Boynton, where he has since remained. He is an industrious, reliable and capable man.
