GEORGE OSBORN.  Was born in Kislingberg, England, March 23, 1824. At the age of four years he came 
with his parents to America, and first located in Hudson, New York, and attended school and followed 
farming for ten years, and after the same length of time spent in Oneida County, same State, he 
moved to Wareham, Massachusetts, and there was employed in a foundry for three years. In 1848 we 
find Mr. Osborn in Ogle County, Illinois, engaged in farming, where he resided until 1868, when he 
started via Panama, and arrived in San Francisco June 5th of the above year. After a short stay in Santa 
Clara Valley he moved to Napa County, purchasing his present homestead of nine acres, located inside 
the limits of St. Helena, and is engaged in viniculture and fruit-growing. Mr. Osborn was married in 
Middleborough, Massachusetts, May 14, 1848, to Miss Phoebe W. Hall, a native of that place. They 
have one daughter, Eveline, now Mrs. P. W. Grigsby.
